Javier Garcia Olmedo joins and strengthens the arbitration and litigation practice
BSP is pleased to announce the arrival as of 1st September of Senior Counsel Javier Garcia Olmedo. Javier will join BSP’s Litigation team, reinforcing an already strong team led by Partner Fabio Trevisan, Anne Morel, Laure-Hélène Gaicio-Fievez and Elodie Vincent.
With more than 10 years of practice and teaching in arbitration, he will focus on arbitration and the promotion of Luxembourg as an arbitration hub and consolidate BSP’s position as a major Luxembourg player. Javier, a Research Scientist at the University of Luxembourg, will bring his practical and academic experience. He currently teaches publication international law, dispute resolution and human rights at the University of Luxembourg. He previously taught investment treaty law and arbitration on the distance learning LLM programme of Queen Mary University of London. He was also Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg and has worked as an associate for several international law firms, where he represented sovereign States and commercial entities in arbitration proceedings governed by the ICSID, PCA, UNCITRAL, and ICC rules. His main research focuses on the changing role of nationality in international law, with a focus on the practice of nationality planning in international investment law. His research also examines areas of interactions and linkages between international trade, investment, and tax policies.
