The founding members are pleased to announce the establishment of a new association in Luxembourg: the Pro Bono Luxembourg Association.
Established on 3rd February 2025, the purpose of this non-profit association is to promote and develop the pro bono practice in Luxembourg and the civic commitment of members of the Luxembourg Bar in the context of free legal advice (pro bono) for meritorious causes, assuring political, ideological and religious neutrality.
The objectives of the Pro Bono Luxembourg Association are the promotion of pro bono legal advice for the benefit of, and via, non-profit organisations pursuing social protection or enhancement objectives, i.e. non-profit organisations, NGOs with no political or religious orientation, social and charitable institutions. The association also aims to provide free of charge the legal expertise of its members to national and international institutions pursuing objectives of social promotion, equality, defence of human and children's rights, and other causes deemed meritorious. Furthermore, it seeks to promote these rights and raise awareness in Luxembourg and abroad of the pro bono practice.
The association also aims to provide a wide range of content and information, as well as organise events and conferences on pro bono for lawyers, social entrepreneurs and the wider community interested in the development of pro bono legal advice. It will cooperate with state institutions, clearing houses and organisation that shares the same objectives and values. The project also includes the set-up of a national clearing house to manage requests from entities based in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
“After some months of preparation, exchanges and discussion among a community of lawyers that I have found particularly dedicated to this cause, I am extremely grateful to have been appointed as Chairman. The association will have my total commitment to maximise the impact that our profession can have on the civil community” said Fabio Trevisan, appointed Chairman of the Pro Bono Luxembourg Association. “I congratulate the entire Board of Directors and the founding members of the Pro Bono Luxembourg Association and wholeheartedly support their efforts to make our contribution even more valuable and significant”.
